Annie's Irish Pub's St. Patrick's Day Block Party is one of Des Moines' biggest celebrations of the holiday. (Photo courtesy of Annie's) Doing St. Patrick's Day, Des Moines StyleJust last week, Des Moines was ranked as one of the top 30 cities in the country for St. Patrick's Day celebrations. It's hard for us to disagree, looking at this weekend's events.
Annie's Irish Pub is hosting a St. Patrick's Day Block Party tomorrow at Court Avenue. While the celebration doesn't start until noon, the pub's patio will open at 6 a.m., serving up free green eggs and ham. Musicians will perform all day, and there will be constant green beer and food trucks.
Here are a few other St. Patrick's Day events:
- The Hall in the Valley Junction district will have drink specials and a corned beef and cabbage meal starting at 11
a.m. tomorrow. Specials include $1 off beer pints, $2 off beer liters and $3 off mimosas. There will also be a shuttle to take patrons to three other pub parties around the metro.
- One of the stops on that shuttle is Sully's Irish Pub in West Des Moines, which will have a full day of festivities starting at 6 a.m. tomorrow. Enjoy live music, drink specials and giveaways until midnight.
- Mickey's Irish Pub and the Tipsy Crow Tavern in downtown Des Moines are hosting a St. Patty's Day bash at the Tipsy Crow, featuring a heated patio and green beer. Doors open at 6 a.m. Admission is free as long as you arrive before 10 a.m. and mark yourself as "going" on the Facebook event (linked above).
