The United Technologies Corp. announced Friday it has received the final regulatory approval needed to close its acquisition of Rockwell Collins Inc., according to a news release.

The completion of the regulatory review by China's State Administration for Market Regulation allows United Technologies to move forward with its proposed acquisition of Rockwell announced Sept. 4, 2017. The acquisition is expected to close within three business days.

It is unclear how the takeover will affect Rockwell Collins' role in Cedar Rapids as the region's largest employer. Rockwell employs some 9,000 people in the Cedar Rapids area.

According to a February announcement, Cedar Rapids will hold on to two divisions of Rockwell Collins after the company's $30 billion acquisition.
