Hello, Majorie is known for its creative drinks with clever names. (Photo courtesy of Hello, Marjorie)
Hello, Marjorie Releases Fall/Winter Drink MenuIn true Hello, Marjorie style, the cocktail bar's new drink menu for the fall and winter season is littered with clever and witty names. A couple of our favorites are journalism-inspired: Off the Record (Knob Creek bourbon, banana nectar, cold brew, pineapple falernum and black walnut bitters) and Editor's Note (High West bourbon, Rothman and Winter apricot liqueur, smoked apple bitters, and fresh apple). After all, the bar is located in the former lobby of the Des Moines Register and Tribune building. But the style is what really sets this bar apart, giving off a "midcentury-retro meets retooled-modern-urban" vibe. The inviting lounge was named for co-owner Nick Tillinghast’s grandmother, a stylish lady who was hip in her own midcentury way. Enjoy craft cocktails, including "the Marjorie," featuring sloe gin (the formidable lady’s personal favorite
liquor), as well as wine (including Prosecco on tap) and a solid selection of beer (craft and otherwise).
