Three different wines from Martellotto Winery feature in WineStyles' virtual wine tasting.

New Tastes at Virtual WineStyles Event

Looking to expand your wine palate at home? WineStyles in Ankeny's Prairie Trail District will feature winemaker Greg Martellotto, with Martellotto Winery in California, for a virtual wine tasting event at 6 p.m. today.

Wines include "M by Martellotto" chardonnay, "Rosso di Sera" red blend and "My Way," a malbec. Testing kits have 1-ounce bottles of all three drinks for $10. You can also buy full bottles separately for prices ranging from $19.99 to $24.99.

'Vision'

Three Ballet Des Moines performances will
broadcast on Iowa PBS at 8:30 p.m. today, with an encore planned for 1 p.m. Sunday. The triple bill, called "Vision," will feature “Sliding Figures,” “A Little Levity” and “Fly Me to the Moon” (which features Max Wellman and his band). Read our story here. Learn more.
First Friday

Mainframe Studios' First Friday event, called "XO," is Valentine's Day-themed. Starting at 4:30 p.m. today, "XO" will provide access to artists and other tools to send personalized messages for the special day. Also, many of the artists will have their studios open. You must register for a time slot and wear masks. Learn more.
Dome After Dark

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden's conservatory will light up with lanterns and twinkle lights for its Dome After Dark event at 5-8 p.m. today through Sunday. Food and drink will be available from Trellis Cafe as well. General admission tickets are $10; free for members. You must reserve tickets beforehand and masks are required. Learn more.
Iowa Wild Season Opener

The Iowa Wild, the minor league affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, will open their season against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. today at Wells Fargo Arena. Seats are socially distanced and sold in pods. Prices range from $17 to $24. Beer is $2 until the end of the first period. Learn more.

Black History Month

Artisan Gallery 218 is honoring Black History Month with an exhibit, courtesy of the African American Museum of Iowa, that tells the history of civil rights in the state. The gallery is open until 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. tomorrow. Learn more.
