Enjoy This Dinner Toast to Scotland
Proof will pay tribute to Scotland and to Robert Burns, an 18th-century Scottish poet, with a special three-course meal fittingly paired with scotch. The dinner is $85 per person and orders must be placed by noon tomorrow. Pickup is 3-6 p.m. tomorrow at Proof. The meal starts with a potato bisque with smoked cod, followed by the entree of lamb shank with charred onion reduction, fingerling potatoes and olives. Dessert is b lood orange cranachan shortbread, a traditional Scottish dessert made with cream and fruit. Each course is paired with scotch, seen in the photo above. Botanical Blues

The Greater Des Moines Partnership created a two-weekend event to encourage residents to get out and enjoy downtown. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. today and tomorrow, participants can find several hot air balloons near retailers, restaurants and attractions. Balloon hunters are encouraged to post on

The Mike Conrad Trio
