Spend Your Extra Day at Brunch

Tomorrow is a leap day, which means we all get an extra day this year to do something special. Our suggestion: Meet a few of your friends or take your significant other and grab brunch at some of Des Moines' fun Saturday restaurants, like these:

  • St. Kilda: Sure, you can go light with house-made granola or steel-cut oats. But for more indulgence, there's plenty on the menu, like the Saint—a sandwich of egg and house-made ginger sausage, with bacon, avocado, red onion, arugula and tomato jam, on a house-made sesame seed bun.
  • Jethro's BBQ and Bacon Bacon: Big food is the name of the game at this ever-popular barbecue spot. It has quite a full menu, including favorites like the Cowboy Breakfast, which includes Texas brisket, or chicken-fried steak.
  • Americana: The Bombshell Brunch Buffet, held every Saturday and Sunday morning, offers more than 40 traditional brunch items. Plus, there's an option for bottomless mimosas.
