Restaurant Week Kicks Off This Weekend

dsm Restaurant Week is finally here! Enjoy meals and deals at some of Greater Des Moines' best culinary spots through Aug. 29. Each participating eatery has special lunch and dinner menus priced at $15-$25 and $30-45, respectively.

If you're unsure where to start this weekend, Karla Walsh provided four of her favorite menus, from Centro, St. Kilda, Trellis and Alba. Find all participating restaurants and menus on the dsm Restaurant Week website. Bon appetite!

Iowa State Fair Grandstand

It's the final weekend of the Iowa State Fair, and there are three more shows slated for the Grandstand. Rock band Five Finger Death Punch will take the stage at 8 p.m. today, with country duo Dan and Shay (pictured) following at 8 p.m. tomorrow. The Doobie Brothers wrap up the schedule at 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $37 to $80. Learn more.
Surf Zombies

xBK's Live, Local and Loud series will continue at 8 p.m. tomorrow with Surf Zombies (pictured), a rock band from Central Iowa. Tickets are $10 if bought in advance and $13 at the door. And if you're free tonight, Red Wanting Blue, another Midwest rock band, will perform at xBK at 7:30 p.m. Learn more.
Overnight Adventures at the Zoo

Blank Park Zoo's Adult Overnight Adventures will take place at 6 p.m. tonight. The all-night event includes meals and drinks, an evening scavenger hunt, breakfast and a morning hike. Tickets are $125 for a campsite for up to two people, and $50 for each additional person. Learn more.


Live Music at Wooly's

There are two shows this weekend at Wooly's. First up will be P.O.D. (pictured), a Christian metal band from San Diego, at 7 p.m. today. Tickets are $32. At 9 p.m. tomorrow, FoolHouse, a 1990s pop music tribute group, will perform. Tickets are $15. Learn more.

Sips and Songs

Today is the final installment of Ankeny's Prairie Trail district's Sips and Songs series. Ryne Doughty and the Dueling Pianos will perform at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively. The event is free to attend. Learn more.
Fridays at the Farm

Middlebrook Farms, a new agrihood development in Cumming, hosts a Friday farmers market and live music event every week at 4-7 p.m. Admission is free. Learn more.
Truman's Live Music

Truman's Pizza Tavern will have live music from Mike Aceto (pictured), and food and drinks on its back patio from 4 to 7 p.m. today, part of its Park It in the Market weekly summer series that ends next week. Learn more.
