Hello, Marjorie Reveals Winter Drink Menu

Bringing back some of its past drink favorites, Hello, Marjoriea trendy Des Moines cocktail bar—recently released its winter 2020 drink menu called "Play the Hits." Headlining the new list are the One Hit Wonder (Four Roses Yellow, Cocchi do Torino vermouth, demerara gum and chocolate-cherry bitters) and the Muscle Relaxer (house rum blend, mango, coffee, Greek yogurt, lime, blackstrap bitters, Angostura bitters, cayenne and nutmeg).

There's also an ode to the history of Hello, Marjorie's location in the old Des Moines Register building. Cocktails named Byline and Editor's Note pay homage to the newspaper business.

Hello, Marjorie is open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight and tomorrow. Happy hour is 4-6 p.m. every day and includes $6 Old-Fashioneds, $5 house vodka martinis and more.

'The Diary of Anne Frank'

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning script on unpublished parts of Anne Frank's diary, "The Diary of Anne Frank" makes its debut on the Des Moines Community Playhouse stage at 7:30 tonight. Other showtimes are 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and 2 p.m. Sunday. The show runs through Feb. 9. Learn more



'Adore Us! Line'

Iowa Stage Theatre promises to bring some laughs to the political season with the premiere of the musical "Adore Us! Line" at 7:30 p.m. today at Stoner Theater. The show, by Des Moines playwright Robert John Ford, is a parody of "A Chorus Line!" Limited tickets remain for this weekend's performances.

Blacklight Beta Bash

Climb Iowa East Village is hosting a Blacklight Beta Bash ideal for novices thinking about trying  the sport. With a black light to contribute to the atmosphere, climbers arrive dressed in bright colors or costumes and take part in climbing activities. The event starts at 9 p.m. tomorrow. Admission is $25 for members; $35 for nonmembers. Learn more



'It Gets Better Every Day'

Grammy Award-winning stand-up comedian Lewis Black is bringing his national tour "It Gets Better Every Day" to Hoyt Sherman Place at
7 p.m. Sunday. Black previously hosted a show on Comedy Central and has made appearances on the "The Daily Show" with Trevor Noah. Tickets are $45-$65.
