Sip On Brews Over Brunch

El Bait Shop, a downtown bar with hundreds of beer on tap, will host its annual Barrel Aged Beer Brunch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Included in the ticket are 12 small samples of various beers, unlimited pancakes with sides, a mug and 50% off the lunch menu.

Dozens of local, regional and national breweries will take part in the event, such as Backpocket (Coralville), Boulevard (Kansas City), Confluence (Des Moines), Firestone Walker (California) and Sierra Nevada (California). 

Because of social distancing guidelines, you must reserve tickets in advance for one of two three-hour sessions (9 a.m.-noon; 1-4 p.m.) in El Bait Shop's dining room. Prices range from $120 to $480 depending on party size. Limited spots are available. Masks are required.

'nature of the dream'

Des Moines Community Playhouse has unveiled a film project tackling Black identity in Iowa. "nature of the dream" premiered yesterday but is available for streaming this weekend. The price to view is $1-$100, depending on what you're willing to spend. Funds will go to Urban Dreams and the filmmakers. Read our story here. Learn more.
Home and Remodeling Show

Central Iowa building and remodeling experts will showcase educational seminars and exhibitions at the annual Home and Remodeling Show, this weekend at the Richard O. Jacobson Exhibition Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Admission is free. Social distancing will be implemented and masks are encouraged. Learn more.
'The Path to Paradise'

A new exhibit is open at the Des Moines Art Center. "The Path to Paradise" features 45 stained-glass panels created by Philadelphia-based artist Judith Schaechter. Read our story about the exhibit here. Admission is free, but reserving tickets in advance is recommended. Learn more.
Hot Air Balloon Hunt

The Great DSM Hot Air Balloon Hunt is back after being rescheduled because of inclement weather. At 6:30-8 p.m. tomorrow, participants can find several hot air balloons near retailers, restaurants and attractions downtown.
