Stay Warm and Cozy for This Winter Music Series

Take in the tunes of local musicians at Gilroy's Winter Live Music Series, which runs every second Friday of the month through March. The soothing acoustic sounds of Bruce Day will ring in the next installment, 6-9 p.m. today at Gilroy's, a West Des Moines bar and restaurant.

In addition to music, you can take advantage of the $4 Moscow mule special, which is available during the show. Choose any of Gilroy's seven Moscow mule options, including the pink grapefruit mule (made with Deep Eddy ruby red grapefruit vodka), or go local with the Foundry Mule (made with Foundry vodka distilled in West

Des Moines CultureCon

Get the festival experience indoors at
Des Moines' second annual CultureCon, which aims to highlight local music, art and food. Headlining the musical acts are local hip-hop groups like Lav.ish (pictured), UVT and more. The event is 4-10:30 p.m. tomorrow at the newly renovated Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines. Tickets are $20.

Iowa Home Show

Hundreds of remodeling and homebuilding
products will be on display at the annual Iowa Home Show, all weekend at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The show runs from 1 to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults, free for individuals under 16.

Red Hott, a four-piece Motley Crue cover band, is headlining an 8 p.m. show tonight at Wooly's in the East Village. Poison Overdrive, a Poison cover band, will open the show. Red Hott will take audience members through many of Motley Crue's greatest hits. Tickets are $10-$30. Learn more

Art Center Exhibition Opens

The Des Moines Art Center is opening a new exhibition, "Imagination and Machine," today. It features Hedda Sterne paintings (pictured)
characterizing her impressions of John Deere tractor parts. The Art Center is open until 4 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. tomorrow and noon- 4 p.m. Sunday.
