Summer Winefest Week Begins Tomorrow

Winefest, a weeklong festival featuring wine and food events, kicks off tomorrow with Meredith Saturday Sessions and continues through Sunday with the Iowa Pork Lawn Party.

All of tomorrow's sessions are sold out except the Plant It, Grow It, Cook It lesson from Better Homes and Gardens Editor-in-Chief Stephen Orr. At 2 p.m. at Meredith Plaza, Orr will teach attendees recipes with common and unusual garden vegetables and herbs. Of course, he'll include wine pairings as well. Tickets for that session are $45.

The Iowa Pork Lawn Party, noon-3 p.m. Sunday at Jasper Winery, is one of the largest events during Winefest Week. Local food vendors, breweries and wineries will be on hand. You can also participate in grape stomping and watch the Crazy for Carnitas Challenge, in which some of the best local pork producers face off in a food competition. Tickets are $15.

Winefest events continue through next weekend.
