Confluence Releases Nessie Scottish Ale

To commemorate the cooler temps and falling leaves, Confluence Brewing Co. is releasing its latest beer: Gray’s Lake Nessie Scottish Ale, now with Freidrich’s cold-brewed hazelnut coffee. The south-of-downtown brewery is celebrating the release with an event from noon to 9 p.m. today.

Confluence's taproom and beer garden will be open at half-capacity with masks required upon entry. Curbside pickup is also available after ordering in advance. Place your to-go order here. Learn more

The Slaughterhouse Opens

The Slaughterhouse
opens at 7 p.m. today at a new 500 Locust St. location. The Slipknot-inspired Halloween attraction will feature a meat-factory scare theme. "Engineer Lefty" will guide patrons through the spooky attraction. Social distancing will be implemented and masks are required. Tickets start at $20.

Blank Park Zoo will hold its Zoobilation Gala online at 7 p.m. tomorrow, streaming on YouTube, Facebook and its website. The program includes a behind-the-scenes look at the zoo and a chance to bid on art and other auction packages. Learn more

Mainframe's First Friday

Mainframe Studios is hosting its First Friday event with the theme "Momentum." Featured will be an annual juried exhibition from Community Support Advocates showcasing the work of artists with disabilities and mental health diagnoses. This will be the final weekend of the food series, which aims to fill the void left by the canceled Iowa State Fair.
