Arts in the City: Receptions, First Fridays and More

The many art lovers among us will enjoy the full slate of events happening tonight:

Mainframe Studios, located at 900 Keosauqua Way, is hosting its monthly First Friday event, 5-8 p.m. with the theme "Fire Up!" The event will feature ceramic artists whose studios are at Mainframe as well as guest exhibitors. Attendees will also have the chance to meet James A. Autry--dsm columnist, retired Fortune 500 executive, respected author of business and self-help books and now a novelist--for a book signing. The event is free and open to the public.

Moberg Gallery on Ingersoll will open a new exhibition with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. The exhibition features work from artists Sarah Grant, Scott Charles Ross, Jason Woodside and Toby Penney.

On the west end of downtown, the West End Art District is hosting a West End Art Amble to allow the public to explore the historic Fitch Studios building and other studios in the neighborhood, meet creatives and see their latest works of art. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. and includes sites between Ninth and 15th streets.
